QuizSwipe — Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies specifically to the QuizSwipe mobile app by Driftmoth Games. For the privacy policy covering driftmothgames.com, see our main Site Privacy Policy. This policy reflects what the QuizSwipe app collects and processes on iOS and Android.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Michael Ricer is the data controller for personal data processed through the QuizSwipe mobile app.

2. What QuizSwipe collects

The app collects the following categories of data on your device:

• Device advertising identifiers — IDFA on iOS and Advertising ID on Android. Used by Google AdMob to serve ads and, where you have consented, to personalise them.
• Anonymous usage analytics — Firebase Analytics records session length, screens viewed, and feature usage. Events are aggregated; individual users are not identified by name, email, or phone.
• Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics collects a stack trace, device model, and operating-system version when the app crashes, so we can fix bugs. No personal data is included in a crash report.
• Gameplay data stored locally — scores, progression, and in-app preferences are saved on your device (not on our servers). This data stays on your device and never leaves it.
• Device identifiers and IP address — temporarily processed by Google servers during analytics and ad requests. IP addresses are not stored by Driftmoth Games and are truncated or anonymised by Google where applicable.

QuizSwipe does NOT collect:

• Your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifier
• Your location
• Your contacts
• Your photos or camera roll
• Microphone or camera input
• Health, fitness, financial, or biometric data
• Any cross-app activity beyond what is disclosed above

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR Art. 6)

• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — for crash reports and aggregated analytics needed to keep the app stable and useful. The minimal and aggregated nature of this data means it does not override your rights or freedoms.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — for the advertising identifier used by AdMob to personalise ads. Consent is requested through the iOS App Tracking Transparency dialog (required by Apple) and through Google’s User Messaging Platform consent dialog on Android. If you decline, you continue to receive non-personalised (contextual) ads.
• Contract / pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)) — for processing strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for when you installed the app.

4. Third-party processors

All three third-party SDKs embedded in QuizSwipe are operated by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Personal data processed by these SDKs may be transferred to the United States under the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (Decision 2021/914) and, where applicable, supplementary measures.

5. Advertising disclosure

• Ads are served by Google AdMob.
• EU/EEA users are shown a consent dialog on first launch, per the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR. You can change your consent at any time in the app’s settings.
• Personalised ads can also be disabled system-wide: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track (off), or Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
• Non-personalised (contextual) ads are shown even when you decline personalisation, so the app remains free.
• QuizSwipe does not target children under 13. The app is rated 12+ and complies with Google AdMob’s policies for apps that are not in their Families programme.

6. In-app purchases

• Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) depending on your device.
• Driftmoth Games does not receive, see, or store your payment card details.
• Apple and Google share only a purchase confirmation and a receipt token with us, so we can unlock what you purchased.
• Your purchase history on the App Store or Play Store is subject to Apple’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy, respectively.

7. Data retention

• Firebase Analytics: 14 months (Google default retention).
• Firebase Crashlytics: 90 days after the crash was reported.
• Google AdMob serving logs: per Google’s retention policies (see Google’s retention policy).
• Local gameplay data on your device: retained until you delete the app or clear its data in your device’s app settings.
• Server-side user profiles: none. We do not maintain any server-side database of individual users. There is nothing to delete on our side because nothing is stored there.

8. Your rights under GDPR

You have the following rights over your personal data:

• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure — “right to be forgotten” (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21 GDPR)
• Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR) at any time, for the advertising-ID consent

To exercise any of these rights, email info@driftmothgames.com. We respond within 30 days, extendable to 90 days for complex requests with notification.

For advertising consent specifically, you can change your choice anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking or Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, or in the app’s own privacy settings screen.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet: datatilsynet.no.

9. Children’s privacy

QuizSwipe is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. The app’s data collection and advertising serve the standard GDPR adult-user model; we do not operate under the Google AdMob Designed for Families programme.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child under 13 has used the app and data was collected, please contact info@driftmothgames.com and we will request deletion of the relevant data from Google on your behalf.

10. International data transfers

Google services (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) process data in Google’s global infrastructure, which includes servers in the United States. These transfers are protected by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (Decision 2021/914) and, where applicable, supplementary technical and organisational measures.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to what the app collects or to applicable law. Material changes will be notified via an in-app banner before they take effect. The Last updated date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision.
